![]() I've read bout the new windows virtual surround but apparently it only presents 2.0 speakers to the application which won't serve my needs. Latency is a big issue for me, so I lean heavily toward PCIe due to my mistrust of USB, but I'm open to suggestion on this. My onboard realtek has a very noisy mic amp, and the 5.1 digital optical output doesn't work with voicemeeter, so I am looking to upgrade it to either PCIe or external. I However, for the time being, I need to listen to gameplay on 2.0 headphones. I want the 5.1 to be transferred to one receiver via optical interface. I want the sound card to present 5.1 speakers to the applications. So basically I want everything to be 5.1 at the source. I want to record and edit gameplay in 5.1, and watch it or movies or whatever in 5.1. OK so I have a surround receiver/amp driving 5.1. so I have no experience with virtual surround cards. I'm experienced with audio gear to the point that I don't know what I need here - my experience is in recording studio gear so I have a sensitive ear, but normally I'd tell people not to bother with HRTF/virtual surround and just monitor their audio on equipment which matches the source. ![]() Virtual surround/HRTF/whatever voodoo the 5.1 channels into 2.0 for headphones. I need soundcard advice, if you would be so kind.ĥ.1 speakers presented to the application ![]()
